Got my first out-of-the-country assignment. Landed here in Taipei yesterday for an 8-day visit (more of work). It was my first time to travel abroad and i'm all alone
. Problem with first time travellers (at least for me), is that there are things you are not aware of. Like it's not allowed to "hand-carry" liquid of any form, moisturizers... just when I checked-in my luggage and right after the immigration "check-point" when i had my last bag & body scan. The one who's monitoring the scanner asked me to have my hand-carry bag be checked, and I just felt sorry for myself when they confiscated my newly-bought mouthwash and Elizabeth Arden Green Tea hand moisturizer (it's my thing to have a hand moisturizer in my purse). It means that I need to buy a new one (at least the mouthwash) and deduct it from my allowance, on which i'm planning to save to buy some stuff (hehehehe). Anyway, got my "first-time-traveller" experience.
Though this is my first time to travel abroad, this is not my first time to board a plane. What I love about getting on the plane to get to my destination is that you get to be "side-by-side" with the clouds. It's just so peaceful seeing those white clouds, you want to rest your head on them (like a very soft pillow). And just seeing those clouds gave me a glimpse of how peaceful heaven is.
And when we got out of the plane someone from the labor (dept.?), who is a filipino, greeted us with sarcasm. I mean "us" because on-board with me were a group of filipino contract workers. Since, again it's my first time, when the pinoy asked all the Filipino who just arrived to fall in-line & put on the sticker that has says "Overseas Contract Worker..." I also did. Good thing I boldly approach him & asked him the way to the car rental (because i already had a transpo that's pre-arranged by the company), he then knew that i'm not a contract worker & told me to just go ahead so as not to waste my time.
It's my second day in Taipei and I don't know how to speak Mandarin. Good thing, two of my officemates in Manila are also here. At least i'm not alone exploring the city. Will have my tour this evening and our first stop, the Night Market, heheheehhe. til then... God Bless
